On 3 December, Victoria Musicae will present a programme of motets for the seasons of Advent and Christmas by European masters of the 16th and 17th centuries at the Capella de la Sapiència.

During the Renaissance, music for these seasons reached exceptional heights of splendour, with motets and spiritual madrigals combining the introspective nature of Advent with the joyful celebration of the Nativity. This programme offers a selection of such works, showcasing the sophistication of polyphonic composition and the stylistic diversity of the major European schools — English, German, Italian and Spanish.
